Nukkisun - Stained Glass Alchemy

Over the last year I've been going to a stained glass evening class for a bit of fun and relaxation.

I love trying different creative outlets, it makes a wonderful change from my full time work with silver and enamelling 😁 As I also love colour so much stained glass was very appealing!

This is the third piece I've created (see the end of this blog post for my first two pieces!), and for this piece I didn't have any plan at all! Lacking inspiration I started out by drawing around a 10" paint pot to give myself a circle and went from there!!

At college all the glass offcuts are kept and I decided to see what I could create by recycling those into something! I did take a decision right at the start that I would only use warm colours so I restricted my palette to red/orange/yellow. I started to dive into the boxes looking for suitable pieces to cut and grind.

Here is a short video that shows how Nukissun rose from the ashes of the scrap bins 😉

I really enjoyed making this.
I have to admit though I enjoyed doing the wirework the best!!

I'm now working on my fourth piece, another 'flying by the seat of my pants' design!!

Here are the first two pieces I made.

If you are looking for some variety in your life I highly recommend joining an evening class in something that appeals to you!

Have fun!
